Volunteer at Cannock Hospital, Brian Talbot suffered terrible injuries when he fell and broke his hip in early March.

The fall, which would leave most people immobile for months was even worse for Brian as he lost one of his legs due to a motorcycling accident in 1972.

Brian has been a stalwart volunteer for several charities since 2007 and joined Stafford & Cannock League of Hospital Friends helping their meet and greet service which was relaunched after the pandemic.

Having spent three weeks in hospital undergoing corrective surgery and much physiotherapy, Brian returned home only last week.

Other volunteers were surprised when he announced he would be returning to duty this week, but all were delighted to see that he returned in good mood and raring to go.

He said, “I was bored staring at the same four walls and am just glad to get out”. He also expressed how much he appreciated all that his wife was now having to do for him.
