Volunteers celebration afternoon tea

“You are the golden thread of the organisation”!

The above was a quote made by The Associate Director of Patient Voice for Wolverhampton and Walsall NHS Trust, Mr Gary Parry who was attending a celebratory afternoon tea for the volunteers at Cannock Hospital.

Stafford and Cannock League of Hospital Friends has held celebrations at both Stafford and Cannock to thank their unsung heroes for the work they do at hospitals throughout the region.

It has been just over twelve months since volunteers returned following the pandemic.

The Meet & Greet operated at Cannock Hospital is particularly well received.  At a recent survey of visitors over 96% said they valued the help the volunteers offer them.

Another event was held to celebrate the volunteers from County Hospital and Saint Georges Hospital.

All volunteers work within either Meet & Greet or their Coffee bars and Cafes.  But many of them were unaware of the excellent reputation the League has for its supported housing Scheme.

Zoe Pyatt, the Leagues Housing Manager gave an enlightening talk on the work that she and her team do and explained that they support over seventy individuals.

Other speakers explained fund raising activities and how the money raised is spent, donating much needed equipment to various hospital wards and departments.

The League has ambitious and challenging targets for the year ahead and knows this will only be achieved with the help of their volunteers.

To coincide with #VolunteersWeek the Stafford and Cannock League of Friends Charity celebrated our own wonderful Volunteers by enjoying an afternoon tea at the Swan Stafford. Thank you all. You do an amazing job!
